Gloucester MA Real Estate
About Gloucester, Massachusetts
Gloucester, Massachusetts was settled in 1623, prior to Boston and Salem, as one of first settlements in Massachusetts. Located on beautiful Cape Ann, Gloucester has a 350 year history as a flourishing fishing community.
Gloucester has also been known for its art and artists. The beautiful ocean and harbor views drew Edward Hopper, Winslow Homer and Mark Rothko, to name a few. Several literary giants, including Rudyard Kipling also were drawn to the town. There are still wonderful works of art on display at the Cape Ann Historical Society.
This charming seaside Colonial town is so lovely that it has been used as the backdrop of over a dozen movies.
