Salem MA Real Estate
About Salem, Massachusetts
Salem is one of the more well known and historic towns in Massachusetts. Located on the North Shore, Salem is famous for the Colonial era witch trials, as well as for being the backdrop for Athur Miller’s “The Crucible” and Nathaniel Hawthorne’s “The Scarlet Letter.” It is also home to a number of museums, including the Witch Museum and the Peabody Essex Museum, which has spectacular cultural and art exhibits throughout the year. You can catch the ferry to Boston for a picturesque way to commute to and from the city. There is also a Salem MBTA commuter rail station that heads in and out of Boston daily.
Salem still retains the look of an old Colonial, New England town. There are older wood frame and brick homes and shops throughout, some dating as far back as 300 years. Many of the homes have been restored in recent years to combine modern amenities with the historic charm.
